Mending Fences

Some of you may know but our fence in the backyard is/was rotten and missing boards, up to 6ft in some spots. It's really ugly and quite unsafe. Well, a few weeks ago someone told us that the Baptist Campus Ministry here had torn down part of their fence and the wood was just stacked up out back. Chip called the director to see if we could have it. He didn't know at the time if they were going to reuse it or not but said he would let us know. He called last week and said we could have it. So, because of Mardi Gras break Chip was able to complete about 3/4 of it. That was actually all the wood they gave us. We are hoping they will tear down more soon. I know you are fearful of the gaps. Don't be. Streed got halfway through, got stuck and started crying. I don't think he'll try that again. I really like the spaces in between the boards. I think it makes the yard look bigger. On the side with the neighbor we will have no gaps. A student named Josh was helping the first day. A two-year old named Streed was helping the 2nd day...see next post.

I like the gaps too. Not-so-private privacy fence. I like the fact that nature shows through. Well, if Streedie got stuck I guess we don't have to worry about our beautiful, sweet Ella getting through. Gran
