My Beauty
We went to a community group cook out today. There was a baby pool but it was full of toddlers. Ella sure did want in. She looked precious to me today. I got this dress for her while I was pregnant in Brazil last summer. I am so glad it fits.

Drumming Drumming Drumming
Nap Time

Streed is like clockwork right now with his naps. He goes down everyday from 1pm until 3pm. We have to read books, certain books. For his nap I usually only read one book because I am ready for some alone time. One of his FAVORITE stories is David & Goliath in the Beginner Bible. I didn't read it today because I read a Sesame Street story. He asked for "Liath" before I left so I just gave him the book and told him to look at it. I came up front to read myself and I heard him talking. A few minutes later I heard him say, "Night night, Liath. I luz you, Liath". And then he went to sleep. I am not lying.
New Do's
Ella's bangs have been getting in her eyes so I have started pulling them back in little ponytail holders. It is too cute. I don't know if you will be able to tell from the picture. It is hard to take pictures of dark hair.

Streed's hair had recently gotten large. It goes from "not too bad" to "really needing to be cut" overnight. We noticed how hot he was getting at the park in the afternoons. So, this morning I took him outside for his summer cut. He looks so cute with it long or short. With Jodi's wedding coming up in a few weeks I wanted to get him looking right.

Color Blind!
It is encouraging to watch Streed play with little kids of other races. Chip took him to the park yesterday to play with the little boy of one of the football players at Southeastern. He and Streed are really close in age. We took both of his football helmets and a football. Before Kyron got to the park there was another little boy who was also Streed's size and was seemed to have parents of two different races. Streed immediately took to him, having never met him. His name was Sean. Streed is so cute when he gets to the park and sees other kids his age. He runs up to them and says, "Come, Come," and heads off to the playground. He doesn't care what they look like or if they are a boy or girl. He just wants to play.

Color Blind?
I was reviewing a previous post that said I was going to paint our chairs a wheat color. As you can see they are apple green. What had happened was...I painted them wheat and did not like it. So, yes I know the color they are currently is green, not wheat. Thanks Robyn for bringing this to my attention.

New and Improved
My Discipleship Group
These are the girls I have had the privlege of leading this semester. They have been such a joy to me as we have met to discuss God's Word but also as we have spent time together outside of group, as friends. We spent most of our time studying the parables through a bible study I received from Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church. We also read a few chapters from Jerry Bridges Growing Your Faith. I would recommend anything by Jerry Bridges. He is easy to read and practical but quite challenging at the same time. If anyone is interested in the parable study let me know and I can email it.

Oh Shoot!
I don't have any still pics to commemorate the milestone but...Ella is crawling. She has been mobile for a while but finally got the knee/hand motion coordinated. I was too busy working the video camera to worry with the other. Also, she pulled up to a standing position at our coffee table. Why do I suddenly hear the voice of Michael Stype from REM in my head...It's the end of the world as we know it... What is funny is I just got the video camera back from a student today, moments before the event. I even said to Leanne as she apologized for having it for so long, "It's fine, it's not like she crawling." As soon as Leanne walked out the door Ella started going. It was like she was waiting to make her big screen debut. I told you she is like Chip.
From morning till night
Streed had me laughing all day.
This morning we were playing ball in the den. He pitched and I hit. Then HE ran the bases, slid, and said, "I win!" It was so cute. He runs the bases if he pitches or hits.

This evening I was trying to put up the curtains in the den/kitchen area. The drill was too heavy for me to hold, pull the trigger and push the screw in straight. So, the screw kept falling. He thought this was hilarious which made me laugh. By the way, Chip dropped it a few times which was also funny to Streedy.
These are the curtains from my old house. I am painting my kitchen chairs a wheat color and recovering the cushions with this same fabric. It looks totally different in there already.

A little later he told me he was ready to go to his room and read and he wanted me and sissy to come. He said, "Mama, sissy read room". This also meant he was ready for bed. Allelujah! So, Ella and I went. Ella enjoyed eating the books. When we were reading he asked for a drink. He wanted juice. I said no, water. He said milk. I said no, water. He said juice and lauged. I said no, water, he laughed. This continued a few more times and he thought it was so funny.

I don't know if this is at all funny to you. He was just really cute and typical Streed.

Zoo Day
Daddy and Terrie came into town for my birthday. The needed to bring my china cabinet and pick up Streed's old baby bed for Robyn. So, we decided to make a weekend of it. Saturday we spent the majority of the day in New Orleans. It was a gorgeous spring day, which is my favorite time to be there. New Orleans is so pretty, especially when it is sunny.
We went first to Cafe Du Monde to introduce Streed to beignets. He wasn't thrilled at first due to the number of people there. I am sure it is a little overwhelming if you are 2 1/2. He did like the beignets but was more concerned about riding the choo choo. So, secondly we rode the street car. Just a few blocks but we rode it nonetheless. Finally we made it to the Audubon Zoo. We bumped into The Williamson's at the first exhibit. Casey's parents were in town too.
Streed loved the zoo! He went several hours past nap time and did great. Sweet Ella fell asleep early on and slept the whole trip...and then was raring to go for the ride home. She talked the entire ride from N.O to Hammond--seriously.

Happy Birthday to ME!

This was my Happy Birthday/Mother's Day gift from Chip (& me)! I have been wanting a china cabinet for YEARS! So, while in Mobile a few weeks ago I went into an antique store just for the heck of it...and I found something! My dad and Terrie brought it to me this weekend for my birthday. Yesterday I was able to get the china out of my closet that has been there for 5 1/2 years. I LOVE it!

Crawfish Boil
That is what is going on right now as I am at home with the kids. I guess by 8:36pm this is where I would be anyway. I am fine with it most times. I think just being at the house for the past 3 days with no contact besides occasional telephone calls became not so fun today. Tomorrow I will "make" 29, that's how they say it here in Louisiana. I plan on being out of the house for a while. Don't know exactly where I will go besides lunch with Jill, but I am sure I can find some time to browse through Tuesday Morning and Hobby Lobby and maybe even Lowe's. The thought of errands without unstrapping and strapping car seats and saying no to the constant barrage of "I Want That's" is heavenly. The sad part is that when I run errands by myself I get bored. The irony of being a stay-at-home mom.
Streedy Update
He is much better today. Still dealing with yucky diapers but no fever. The problem is we have recreated a bad habit of him sleeping in our bed.
Too Cute to Handle
Here are some recent pictures of Ella that are just too cute. I find myself saying this on a continual basis. I can't help it she is just too cute. We are all in love with Miss El at this house.

QUARANTINE

Yep, we're sick again. This time it is Streed and Chip. Once again we return from Fairhope with a bug. This time we are staying away from any and everybody until we are officially well. Unfortunately we were around people before we knew we were sick. Hopefully all is well. Here is a picture of how Streed and Chip have spent the past two days. Until last night it hadn't been that bad for me. They have slept all day long except for the hourly Pedialite. But, I spent 2 hours last night between 12:40 & 2:40 changing Streed's diaper. In case you're wondering, we do have another couch. Streed fell asleep playing with toys. He is not banished to the floor.
