"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." --exerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit
We have this book and the CD that goes with it. I do not remember reading it as a child but I just love it. It is so sweet. One time after listening to it in the car I had to wash Ella's baby. I felt really uneasy when I threw her into the washing machine. I know that makes no sense. But, if what the Skin Horse says is true, she is REAL!

What a beautiful, sweet post! The picture is great... I've been thinking about the Velveteen Rabbit lately, too. I loved it when I was little, and I still love it now. If it's true, we've got two or three REAL babies and animals around here, too!
What a sweet, sweet story. I am so sorry I did not read this book to you. I am glad you can enjoy it now. Moma
I LOVE this post! I've got to get that book for my babies.
If the Skin Horse knows what he's talking about, then we have a babydoll named Dorothy that's probably got a few things to say.
LOVE that book! and Hadley has the same dolly...love her too! i've washed her a million times, and if she is real, she needs to be washed! :) Holly
